Our Story
We are a business built by our community and our founder's personal desire for inclusive social spaces.
Our founder Bryttany, is the epitome of an adhd-entrepreneur, constantly learning from every business they have been a part of and innovating along the way. They also have a passion for inclusive celebration, inviting everyone to be a part of the story. So when they took a step back from drinking to focus on mental health, feeling excluded in social situations gave birth to The Little Sober Bar. That's where this story, our story begins, with our founder's.
"Staying sober for me meant distancing from social activities that I was used to. The social pressure to drink was overwhelming, the side comments were hurtful, and ultimately I couldn't handle feeling so isolated. My social anxiety peaked without alcohol and without a buffer my "neurospicy behavior" showed through. As I settled into my new normal, embracing my authenticity, I lost a lot of the community I had grown accustomed to. That's where the idea came from, curious about how many of us feel the same way!"
We thought how cool it would be to have a place we could go with an abundance of non-alcoholic options. Being summertime a conversation about, "what if we had a boat and sold mocktails off the boat?" started the story and if you know Bryttany, the wheels were spinning out of control. Aka a full fledged plan for the boat bar but without actually owning a boat.
Fast forward the next year, The Little Sober Bar began by putting the minibar into practice. Bryttany quickly realized we needed a better option and the universe aligned. A small business owner friend was selling her camper for a price within budget, and the day after we picked it up her HOA sent a letter requesting the camper be moved.
About a week after purchasing the camper, Bryttany was let go from a corporate career. "It was like my life was aligning along this year long journey of sobriety and neurodivergent acceptance. (medication helps too)." So, without a fulltime job every second was dedicated to this Little Sober Bar idea. Every day we built something a counter here, a fridge installed there, ultimately using our social media presence to amplify our community. With that being said, every early supporter has their name written under the OG Trailer bar floorboards! In 43 days we not only renovated our 1965 Shasta Compact we developed the business idea, began marketing, and booked our first event.
We wanted to prove that you can do anything one day at a time and that there was a need for our services in the suburbs.
Since serving our first event in September 2023 we:
- Hired several kind, supportive, and talented team members
- Serve over 150 events each year
- Hosted an annual NotATypical Festival since 2024 to raise awareness for mental health
- Added two outdoor and two indoor minibar set ups
- Opened a small footprint bottle shop in Downtown Woodstock, GA
- Acquired Pulp Friction, a lemonade and dirty soda trailer, expanding our offerings and a second trailer
Our founder has also:
- Won First Place in the 2023 Fayette County Pitch Contest
- Graduated LaunchPad Bootcamp with a $5,000 grant
- Joined Hatchbridge and the North Atlanta Venture Mentoring Program
- Curated amazing beverage options from all over the world
- Been featured in press across the nation
All of this to say, this bar was made for people looking for something different, to support exceptional small brands, craft delicious flavors, and curate as many options as others have so that everyone feels included.
People deserve options not only in their beverages but in life as well. Settling is a choice but we choose to stay curious.
