Simple - Simple Syrup

Let's just get into it, here's how to make Simple Syrup:

 Ingredients:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water

Instructions:

  1. In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and water.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir continuously until the sugar has completely dissolved. This usually takes about 5 minutes.
  3. Once the sugar has dissolved, remove the saucepan from heat and let the mixture cool for a few minutes.
  4. Transfer the syrup to a heatproof container, such as a glass jar or bottle. Let it cool completely before using or storing in the refrigerator.
  5. Store the simple syrup in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Additional Tips:

  • If you desire a thicker syrup, you can increase the sugar-to-water ratio by using 2 cups of sugar to 1 cup of water. This will result in a richer syrup.
  • To add some flavor to your simple syrup, you can infuse it with herbs, fruits, or spices. Simply add your desired ingredient to the saucepan along with the sugar and water, and let it simmer for a few minutes before straining and cooling.
  • Simple syrup is an essential ingredient in many mocktails, as it provides sweetness and helps to balance flavors. It's also great for sweetening iced tea, lemonade, or any other cold beverages.
  • Feel free to experiment by using different types of sugar, such as brown sugar or coconut sugar, or simmer with herbs in the water to create unique flavor profiles in your syrup.

Now you have a delicious homemade simple syrup that you can use in various recipes and beverages. Enjoy!
